Armada beers range from a Pilsner to several IPAs and collaboratively-brewed stouts! They've recently open their own brewery/taproom in New Haven. Grand opening weekend set for April 22-24, 2022. The brand was launched in January 2017.
Second location for Black Hog
In a massive space in a brick building by the canal that many breweries would be jealous of, Witchdoctor has built a great facility with pool tables, darts, space for bands and plenty of brewing capacity. Up to 16 different styles of beer at a time, plenty to choose from for the diverse crowd here.
Originally @Beeracks then open as part of the NOLO restaurant in New Haven in Dec 2018... but that partnership only last until Sept 2019. Beer still available around the state in cans.
Lager specialists here, a wide selection of German-style beers including lager, weisse and pilsner. Great beer hall and a spacious brewing area with plenty of room to become a large-scale operation.
Brews NON-ALCOHOLIC Beer only in their aim to pioneer a revolution in non-alcoholic craft beer.
Brewery with a large facility including on-site pizza restaurant and full dar in the Milldale section of Southington. Offers a wide array of self-brewed beer from IPAs to experimentals including a root-beer porter, double coffee stout and even a conifer/spruce flavored expiremental Gose beers
Counter-Weight hit the ground running when they launched in 2016... they began distributing their now popular Headway IPA and Workhorse Pilsner right away and just in their second year have gained great popularity in Southern CT. Newly launched Critical Mass is/was quite a much sought after hit from day one upon hitting the market in Jan 2019. Just in business a couple short years, this brewery with a great taproom and retail/distribution operation is well on its way from Workhorse to powerhouse here in CT!
No longer allowing on-site visit at their farm taproom in East Hampton, but still brewing onsite and at Twelve Percent in North Haven
Beautiful venue on the Branford river, combined with a large operation sometimes used for contract brewing, Stony Creek has built a brand our their own Cranky style of beers and recently opened a second location at
Evolution without worrying... this brewery is constantly churning out new products. Since 2014 they've been a staple on State Street in Hamden with an idealic taproom filled with a wide-range of beers. We hear they are starting to distribute canned beer too, so look for it on store shelves soon!
Overshores launched as the first local CT brewery focusing on making beer in the Belgian style with bottle-fermented wheat beers. It has since evolved to now also offers cans and other brews in their taproom. The facility and operation is also collaborative as they are sharing space with several other contract brewers in CT's first brewing collaborative now known as The Beeracks in East Haven.
Producing award-winning beers, including their Granola Brown, while distributing canned beer statewide has helped put this Oxford brewery on the map in CT! Quality recipes. We haven't visited in person yet but we're enjoying their brews from afar and look forward to a trip to Oxford.
Formerly located in East Windsor at the location that now houses Problem Solved brewing, they are now located in Suffield
True Craftsmen here - Thimble Island is constantly churning out great beers and offers a wide-ranging selection both for on-site consumption in their tasting room and off-site retail.
Miles ahead and on two roads ;) Two Roads was the first big NEW operation in the state in quite a while. A huge operation with 100-BBL setup on day one, they've being brewing their own and craft brewering for other craft breweries from around the country since beginning operations in a large former factory in Stratford. Lead by veteran brewer Phil Markowski, who headed New England Brewing Co (v1) operations until 1996 and returned to CT to lead brewing here.
Originally a gypsy brewing operation, but always a CT business... Charter Oak is now set up in their new home opened in 2018 in Danbury, CT.
The current owners acquired this established business in 2009 from the prior owners who started it up in 2005. The prior owners subsequently opened, then closed, a second location in Torrington.
After the industry faltered post-micro phase, the remanants of Troutbrook Brewhouse' organization were acquired by "Thomas Hooker Brewing Co" (named after one of Troutbrook's most popular brews, which in turn was named after the founder of Connecticut). Hooker carried the torch for independant CT brewing while many others avoided starting or growing during the early 2000 decade. Great selection available in retail or on-site at two locations in the Hartford area.
After the original company of the same name battled on for many years, the current ownership acquired the brand in 2002 and re-opened near New Haven by "The Tunnel" in Woodbridge, CT. They carried on an original recipe or two, but hit gold with their own Sea Hag, the controversially-named Gandhi-Bot (now G-bot) and more. True founder(s) here in CT - twice an innovative brand!
Existing establishment BAR saw the trend early, designed a workable business model and stuck with it! Excellent micro beer, Wooster Street -style pizza, and an eclectic bar that's either brewpub, dance club or college hangout (or all of the above) depending on which night you go - that's been their recipe for success and longevity in New Haven since they started brewing in 1996.
Perhaps the longest continuously-operated, active brewery in CT. They started up during the micro/brewpub era in 1993 and persist to this day. The pub/restaurant houses a museum like collection of history worthy of browing for hours!
